This show has been airing for several months in Canada now and has generated favorable buzz and word-of-mouth. Should be fun. Look for two back-to-back episodes on January 23.

He tells her he’s not dumb like the green Hulk and that he has plans. He wants to include her because she was the only one willing to kill him (Red Hulk) when he was seemingly captured by She-Hulk’s Lady Liberators.

I’m guessing we’ll see a new book featuring Thundra. Marvel seems to be dropping a lot of characters in favor of new directions. Not a bad thing, if they’re done well (see Captain America).

Having said that, it’s the choice I like the least. Too predictable and I think all of the other choices/teasers would be better than her. I like Storm a lot, but she should be in the X-Men rather than posing as the Black Panther.

Although, as  I type, it makes sense for a Queen to take of the duties of her fallen King. Maybe she is the new Black Panther?

The movie is 6 episodes long and the depth of story was really amazing. After all, this is the Power Rangers we’re talking about here.  The quality of this DVD is quite good and I find myself wanting to go back and take another look at some of the past seasons of this show.

I know when my brother was about 9, he was Power Ranger crazy. That was all he could talk about for at least 3 years. I always gave him funny looks about his love of the show.  I guess that now I need to give him a call and say that I was wrong or at least admit that he was right. (Wait:admit to a younger sibling that they were right….no).

The series starts off with Camille, the majordomo for Dai Shi learning that some of her master’s warriors feel as if he is unworthy of being served and seek to overthrow him in a coup. Camille and Viper begin a fight that has them both fighting for their lives most of the 1st episode. 

Viper tells Camille that she should side with him due to the fact that Dai Shi has never said thank you to her for all of her years of service to him and that he does not care for her at all.  As she battles for Dai Shi, Camille realizes that Viper is right, but she stands by Dai Shi as she plots to bring him closer to her.  Meanwhile, the Rangers each get a new master to train them in their new weapons and they learn about real teamwork.

The weapons are the shi blades for Casey, knife fan for Theo and jungle ball for Lily.  They are each given time to shine as solo warriors.  I enjoyed this part of the DVD and would have loved even more time getting to know each Ranger better. 

The group  they have for this season is good at fighting and they seem to enjoy concept of playing a Ranger.  The best part of the training sequences are they are not forced into the script.

One thing I don’t like are the villains bad costumes.  The colors are to garish and are a little out of place. The one that I dislike most is Camille’s armor.  Talk about a badly done costume.

One other thing that I did not care for was the use of Dai Shi’s warriors. They kept hopping up and down like there were jumping rope all the time. This gets old really fast. 

The special effects are good and any line-work used was invisible. I did not see any bad camera angles.  The production values for this series are very high quality. It could easily compete with any prime-time network program.

This set is 135 minutes and it is a blast to watch for any age and can be enjoyed by all.  The only extras are a few trailers. I can only hope they will one day do a behind-the-scenes feature to show all of the geeks how the show is made. We like to watch all of the extra stuff.  I would recommend this movie to anyone between 8 and 35. It’s is a kids show, but still a lot of fun.

OMG! Talk about a trip down memory lane on this one.  I have loved watching  many a show with ninjas, mystic warriors and all things kung fu and this DVD is one that really shows how far the TV series has gone in the last 20 years. 

The series is back for the 2008 season with a action-packed 6 episode arc that gives us a new set of power rangers and a cool, if not zen-like master.  This season we have a new villain by the name of Dai Shi, a master of evil who is assisted by Camille,  chameleon and warrior.  The writing was good and the plots were not stupid. To my surprise, I found myself glued to the TV.

The 1st part of the DVD is all set up for the Jungle Fury line up.  The opening two part storyline gives a good background. It’s not your basic warrior story.  Six students are taking part in the annual choosing ceremony that will pick three warriors to become students of the master Chen Po. 

The students who make the cut are joined by a 4th after the oldest and most brash, Jarrod, shows his distaste for a fellow student.  That student displays tiger power and is also chosen as a warrior. 

While this is happening the master explains to the new warriors that they have a duty to protect an evil soul that has been trapped in mystic box.  The soul is that of Dai Shi.  The soul is accidently released by Jarrod and it takes over his body.

The three warriors are then told on the masters death bed that they must go to Ocean Bluff and seek out their new master.  The warriors at first mistake an older man as their new master. After being attacked, they realize that the young and somewhat dazed pizza shop owner is their new master.

The master then gives the three warriors sunglasses that are siphoned off of the morphing zone and thus makes them Power Rangers.  Casey, Lily and Theo are the new Power Rangers and their adventures begin.

The best part of the storyline is the rangers are pitted against a host of warriors sent by Dai Shi to keep them busy while he collects and grows his power base. 

I liked this part of the story a lot. It wasn’t your usual big, bad villain wanting to kill off the good warriors.  This story just wanted to help the bad guy get power, but not destroy the world. 

The costumes are not as bad as I remember and I could actually see what the powers were meant to be for each warrior.  The designs were very bold and yet simple, not like the old days of power rangers where it hurt the eyes to watch all of the shiny costumes and the silver weapons blinded you.  Watching an old episode was almost painful. 

As for extras on this DVD, there are none save for the usual trailers. That’s ok. It’s very watchable and I will definitely watch this DVD again and again.  So, with that said: Go Power Rangers.

1. Re-read Watchman and actually understand it. No really I will read the pirate story this time around and not fall asleep three paragraphs into the story.  I will worship the subtext and get the small points and give Alan Moore his due.  I will get this crazy man and his writing into my geek head and love this book like I know as a geek I should.  Again I will understand this book (ok, I will try).

2. I will understand Final Crisis without having it explained to me by someone else. I will get the meaning of what Grant Morris is trying to do and I will not have to listen to Comic Geek Speak and Raging Bullets to understand the anti-life equation. I will bask in reading the 40 different tie-ins and not get upset if all of Final Crisis is just a dream—ala Bobby Ewing and Dallas. If this is true, I will switch my loyalty to Marvel.

3. I will not read any book that has a red Hulk in it. Noting will make me do it, not even for my love of Jeff Loeb.  The whole concept is wrong and I want my money back from all the World War Hulk event books that I bought this past year.  Loved Planet Hulk, but I hate Red Hulk.

4. Never again will I be sucked into a new TV show that is cancelled after the first season. I am done. I will not be watching any new shows.  From now on, it’s two seasons and then I will watch the show.  Do you realize how many good new shows are canned each year?  My geek heart can not take it anymore. I don’t care if they manage to get Fables on ABC and it’s good. You want me to watch it, give me two seasons.

5. I will watch all of Supernatural and love the show.  I have seen a few shows here and there and I love this show, but I have not seen every season.  I know that I have a lot to watch but I will get everything cleared off of my dvr and watch each season in order. This show is amazing and not many people can have a show that follows Smallville and be a hit but this show has for at least 3 years.

6. I will read more hard science fiction and expand my idea of what is sci-fi/fantasy. I am currently reading a new series that rocks and I can tell you that I would have never picked the books up if not for my friend talking me into them.  I promise to look beyond Misty Lackey and Ann Bishop and pick up more new writers.

7. I will learn to like and play video games.  I got my husband Guitar Hero and now I am hooked on the darn game.  So much that I went out and bought myself a guitar to battle him on such songs as Hotel California and Talk Dirty to Me.  I will play Gears of War and like it.

8. I hereby promise to read at least one manga this year and do so with an open mind. I confess, other than watching Ghost in the Shell and Gantz, I have nothing to compare my manga to.  So this year I will read and watch at least one manga/amine to round out my geek education.

9. I will not freak out when Heroes brings back Syler.  No, really did you really think that he was dead? Come on this is Hereos we’re talking about.  So I will be cool and calm when they decide to jump that shark and bring him back.

10. I will be the best geek that I can be in all of my life. I will blog, twitter, facebook, post to message boards, podcast and other social networking with the best of them.  I will be the most hard core geek that I know and I will do it with pride.

So, here goes my geek girl card..I LOVED THIS MOVIE.

I loved it because it made me smile at the sheer joy that these three girls had for acting their way through a really bad script and not looking like a bunch of idiots.  The music was good and the title song was cute and bouncy.  The color and flair that was the background of India was fun to watch.  I got though this movie and was happy that I stuck it out. 

This movie is the third in a series of Cheetah Girls movies that were started by Disney to give Raven-Symone a music career—which as we all know is going ok.  Even with her not in this film, I still liked it a lot.

The stars of the movie are Adrienne Bailon, Sabrina Bryan and Kiely Williams, a group of mid-level talent that shines in this movie.  The girls will never be on par with the High School Musical/Camp Rock gang but they hold their own quite well.

The movie fits together as a string of musical numbers with a cute but over used plot.  A contest is being held to find out what girl will win a starring role in a Bollywood film.  The singing talents of the girls is strong and I can see why Disney is  keeping these girls on the payroll. They can entertain quite well. 

The movie start off with the girls trying to find work as a singing group. They meet a guy who has them audition for what they think is a group gig. He hires them but does not tell them that they have to compete for the lead role.  At first, the girls are not willing to do the project but Chanel (Bailon) convinces the girls to go along to India and do the movie. 

They are placed in a great hotel and wait for the movie to begin filming.  Meanwhile, Dorinda (Byran) and Aqua (Williams) are having guy trouble and each girl having a hard time dealing with their crushes. Chanel is considered the best singer, Dorinda the best dancer and Aqua the best actress. The girls make a pact the stay together and each will compete against each other, but in a friendly way. 

They discover the dance teacher is a quiet girl and she has a major crush on the lead actor. She also secretly wants to be the movie lead. The girls band together and help the girl, Gita, get the role. 

The movie plenty of great moments and the ending was a lot of fun.  I will not spoil it, but I was cheering a bit at the last song.

The movie is 88 minutes long and is the extended music version that rocks the house.  If you love sappy songs and cool dance moves, then this is Disney at its best.  I wish that at least one of the girls had gotten a chance to be in HSM because they are really talented singers and dancers.  The best thing is that they know how to make you smile. 

The DVD comes with glitter stickers and fully loaded with music based extras.  The DVD has music video and a rock-a-long mode that made my heel tap and I was even singing along with the girls. 

The worst part of the DVD are the outtakes. Oh my god! I did not need to see that many bloopers and joke reels.  It felt forced and not really needed. 

The movie also has a cheetah mode that give you a alternate version of the movie.  It’s significantly different from the main movie and it gives you fun facts about the Cheetah Girls and their lives. 

So if you like a good old song and dance movie, this is the DVD for you.  It’s fun and I say that you must see this movie just to make you smile if you are having a bad day. The costumes are amazing and the setting is very well done.  If I had to rate this film for it genre, this movie would be at least a 4 out of 5.  Cheetah Girls Rock.

This is an interesting choice and could make sense due to the Avengers connection. Having said that, I don’t think she’s the likely choice. She’s too powerful and that wouldn’t fit with the Black Panther style.

We’ll have to wait and see.
