Syfy’s Caprica: BSG Knowledge Not Required

I enjoy a lot of science fiction, be it books, comics, TV or movies. But sometimes it’s just too complicated for it’s own good, and has a hard time gaining new fans. Battlestar Galactica is a perfect example — I never have any idea what is going on or why, so I just turn it off*.

And now BSG has a sequel (or rather, a prequel): Caprica. So I was enthused when I read this today:

You don’t need to know anything from BSG in order to watch and love Caprica,” executive producer Jane Espenson tells GeekChicDaily in an exclusive interview. “It’s a very different show and doesn’t require any prior knowledge.

Given how Syfy has killed pretty much anything I liked on SciFi Channel, this is good news — I have something new to watch!

* Someday I’ll get all the Battlestar DVDs from Amazon and watch it from the beginning. So please, no hate comments from BSG fans.

This turned out to be an excellent show — I can’t wait for the fall season to start. Such a great cliffhanger!
