New Avengers Relaunch Just Got Interesting

Jewel - I Am An Avenger - New Avengers Thing - I Am An Avenger - New Avengers

All week, Marvel has been teasing the relaunch of New Avengers by Brian Michael Bendis and Stuart Immonen in June. The images of Spider-Man, Wolverine and Luke Cage were simply not that exciting. All three are currently New Avengers, so move along – nothing to see.

Well, The above two images were the last ones released and the official return of Jessica Jones as Jewel is intriguing. Today’s reveal of the Thing (from the Fantastic Four) officially has me interested.

I think Bendis could write the heck out of the Thing. I can just imagine the great dialog and the interaction between him, Spidey and Wolverine.

Bendis – I can’t afford all these Avengers titles.

  1. I love all of the revealed characters but even after all of these years of New Avengers, a series which I enjoyed a lot, it’s still a little weird for me to see an Avengers team made up of many so former non-Avengers. Too bad, they couldn’t just restart the Defenders. Ah well, it’s just a minor gripe. Ben Grimm seems pretty redundant on a team that already has a powerhouse like Luke but I guess Bendis really wants to play with him in his sandbox and that’s all right by me. I hope that we see at least one classic Avenger mainstay on this team (maybe Pym ?) and I hope that we see a Young Avengers announcement soon.

  2. I kinda wish they’d give Jessica a new costume. It worked in the flashbacks because she was sort of looking at that period of her life as “oh god, what was I thinking!”

    And Ben… what the–?
