Iron Man 2 Trailer 2 is Full of Awesome and Plot Details

IronMan2 - Mark VI Armor

The first trailer was great, but it didn’t really reveal much of the story. In this second full trailer for Iron Man 2 – in theaters on May 7 – you get a better idea of the story. You might consider what’s next spoilers, so don’t read if you don’t want to know.

Stark is obviously loving the extra attention since he revealed to the public that his Iron Man. The appearance of Whiplash at the Grand Prix seems to be early in the film. In this same scene, we also get the best moment of the trailer—in my opinion. Stark kicks a briefcase and a compact version of the Iron Man armor is revealed. It’s referenced in the toy-line as Mark V.

Whiplash is subdued, but Justin Hammer brings him to the U.S. and offers him the resources to continue his work – as it seems Whiplash has created a power supply similar to Iron Man’s. Hammer is manufacturing a line of Iron Man inspired automated armored warriors and likely needs Whiplash’s power supply to complete the project. The “battle droids” are revealed by Hammer and they are led by a War Machine armored James Rhodes.

One nice thing about the War Machine armor shown in the trailer, despite the visual semblance, it’s a completely militaristic take on the Iron Man’s suit. Just watch battled near the end where Iron Man and War Machine team up. Iron Man uses the repulsor tech and War Machine is all firepower.

I’m guessing since this is the last Iron Man before the Avengers movie, the storyline will push Stark towards Nick Fury’s idea for the Avengers. Marvel has taken an organic approach to their movie universe and fans should look for the details in all the upcoming films as they slowly build to the Avengers in 2012.

In the end, we can expect double-crosses, team-ups, new armor (more than one) and more armored action. Isn’t that what we all want?
