Avengers Academy Adds Reptil
It was bound to happen. I knew from the moment that Reptil was introduced on the Super Hero Squad cartoon that he would eventually claw his way into the mainstream Marvel Universe. Marvel released another teaser image for Avengers Academy today that features Reptil. So, just a few months after his animated debut, he’s coming to the comics world.
I’m not trying to sound negative – just knew it would happen. Two other great characters have transitioned from animation to comics – Marvel’s X-23 debuted on the X-Men: Evolution cartoon. The most famous cartoon to comic character is Harley Quinn, who debuted in Batman: The Animated Series and was introduced years later in the comic.
It’s a smart move on Marvel’s part. With his dinosaur based powered, he appeals to kids. Feature him prominently on the covers and you got a better chance that kids will pick up Avengers Academy – by Christos Gage & Mike McKone — in June.

Firestar is another cool character that made the tv to comic page transition.
I’ve been watching Super Hero Squad and I like Reptil. I still have yet to read his Initiative issue so I’m not too sure what his comic persona is like but I’m always a fan of fresh new characters and I hope that they do something cool with him.
