Animated DC Showcase Gets Collected in November
At San Diego Comic Con, DC Entertainment announced a collection of the popular DC Showcase animated shorts will be released on November 9, 2010. Featuring three previously or soon to be released shorts (The Spectre, Jonah Hex, and Green Arrow). The collection will also feature the premiere of an all new, 22-minute DC Showcase animated short entitled “Superman/Shazam! The Return of Black Adam.” The short feature will be written by Michael Jelenic. Jerry O’ Connell will reprise the role of Captain Marvel, Shazam (the Wizard?) is voiced by James Garner, Superman is voiced by George Newbern, and Black Adam is voiced by Arnold Vosloo.
I, for one, think this is excellent news. The DC Showcase shorts have been some of the strongest content on DC’s recent DVD releases. The 11-minute length forces writers to pen a short and concise story. Based on the title alone, a short featuring Superman, Shazam, and Black Adam could easily fill 22-minutes.
We’ll post more info on this as it becomes available. Neither cover art or a MSRP have been released. Since November 9 isn’t too far away, I imagine we can expect to see something soon.
The Johah Hex DC Showcase is currently available on the just released Batman: Under the Red Hood DVD and Blu-Ray.
The Green Arrow DC Showcase will be on the upcoming Superman/Batman: Apocalypse! DVD and Blu-Ray, available on September 28.
The Spectre DC Showcase short is available on the Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths DVD and Blu-Ray.

I hope there are some decent extras on this package, otherwise, it will be tough to justify buying this collection just for the Superman/Shazam showcase. I already have The Spctre and Jonah Hex, and will have the Green Arrow one when it’s released.
