Detective Comics #854 – One Word Review

Detective Comics #854 - Page 28 and 29

Stunning!

Ok, so I’ve got to say a few more words, but stunning is appropriate.

J.H. Williams III does stuff in this book that will blow your mind. Kudos to DC for letting him experiment in such a mainstream title. If you’ve read Promethea, then his experimental style will come as no shock.

Greg Rucka has written a story that evolves the Batwoman character to the next level and manages to subtly fill readers in the events from her past that matter.

Finally, the underrated star of the title is color artist Dave Stewart. Seriously, so much of the issues relies on the color and the contrast of color. Just like the image above and the images of Batwoman and the new villain Alice. These images pop from the page.

Do yourself a favor and grab a copy of Detective Comics #854, while you still can.
