Champions Online RPG Beta Testing and Amazing Video

Champions Online – Official Power Armor Trailer

Champions Online – Official Sorcery Trailer

I remember picking up the original Champions RPG as a kid while on vacation in Florida with my grandparents. I had dabbled in D&D for a while, but the thought of Role Playing as superheroes was awesome.

The game I had is long gone, but I still remember it fondly. Those memories recently came back when I discovered that Atari is developing an online version of Champions.

Just check out the trailers above and look how awesome they are. The skill-sets look amazing. The graphical representations of the powers look unique and detailed, very much like the comic book images that inspired them (especially the Sorcery ones).

If the game-play matches the graphics, then Atari could have a winner on their hands. Admittedly, the DC Universer Online game is coming as well, but when you consider you don’t play as the DC Heroes—but a hero of your own creation—there’s not a lot of difference.

Head on over to www.champions-online.com and sign up for a free Beta account. Try it out today and see what you think.

Teaming up with his friend (who happened to have the perfect domain name) they revised the former Superheroes-R-Us site into what it is now.

  1. Um… the Champions RPG is hardly “long gone.” It’s 5th and 25th Anniversary editions are still in print and available and a 6th edition is in the works. The game is still being published by Hero Games and should be readily available from most gaming and books stores.

    And nope… I don’t work for them. :)
