New Hawkman Series in 2009

Over on Kyle Baker’s blog, the artist has posted a few art samples for a new Hawkman series he is working on:
No title for the book yet that I know of. It’s not due for another six months. Anyway, enjoy the wallpaper! By the way, just for the fans, I’m making this story the bloodiest and most depressing story ever! Full of realism! HAWKMAN’S WORLD WILL BE CHANGED FOREVER! I’ve revealed too much. I can say no more.
This is the best DC news I’ve heard in a while. Hawkman is a favorite of mine and when his series was changed to Hawkgirl, I quickly dropped the title after a few issues. The drop in quality was horrible. The recent DC Hawkman Special wasn’t much better.
Goeff Johns perfectly redefined his origin in JSA years ago. It made sense. Why go and mess with that again? It’s frustrating.
So, I hope the Baker series (or limited series) doesn’t mess things up any more.
