New Black Panther in February
Marvel and the Washington Post have revealed the the Black Panther title will reboot in February with a new #1 issue and a new Black Panther. The new #1 seems deserved, since the new Panther is female.
First assumptions would lead you to believe that Storm (from the X-Men) is underneath the mask, but that’s too obvious.
It’s really a shame that this is happening—in my opinion. However, I said the same thing about Captain America and that’s turned out great. Brubaker had a great idea and Marvel went with it. Somehow, I feel like this is just change for change’s sake.and I wholeheartedly disagree with this quote:
"Over the course of 40 issues [over three years], we … really defined the character in a way that hadn’t been done before. … Having done that, you go: "How do we up the stakes?" Marvel is great about doing really shocking changes to their character — they don’t believe in just keeping everything as status quo."
Hudlin (and McDuffie in Fantastic Four) have presented an interesting portrayal of the Black Panther that kept his heritage and turned him into a ruler in the Marvel U. that you would not want to cross. It’s too bad that character won’t be around any longer.
It’s odd that Marvel is doing this right at the time that the Black Panther cartoon will be airing on Hudlin’s previous employer, BET.

I was JUST starting to really enjoy this Panther series… I loved the Priest BP book and never really enjoyed this newer series until Secret Invasion. So of course just as I start enjoying it, they go and change it all over again.
